VENTURA MUSIC FESTIVAL VIOLINS
Sylvia Torres was selected as one of eleven artists by the Ventura Music Festival to celebrate their eleventh season of the Ventura Music Festival.
Each artist was given an unfinished violin to create a work of art in their own unique medium. Sylvia's was in encaustic with metal leaf, and was named the Red Violin after the violin in the film of the same name. Following the story line of the film, both of these red violins were created by an artist, and passed on ultimately to the high bidder at an auction.
At the concert and Black Tie dinner VIENNA NIGHTS, the highlight of this spectacular evening was the live auction of these eleven extraordinary Festival Violins.
Over $74,000 was collected from the sale of the eleven violins.
